Making a list of places to visit is very difficult, the things to see are endless. Each region hides places of enchanting beauty that deserve a stop. Around Italy there are villages suspended in time, abandoned places that, by reinventing themselves, have found new life, enchanting castles, art and uncontaminated nature.

We tried to list some of the most particular and less known places to visit absolutely in Italy , the list is a great idea for weekend trips. Here’s what to see in Italy.

Valley of the Mills

Valley of the Mills

In this valley of the Sorrento peninsula nature has taken over an old abandoned place. The Vallone dei Mulini is what remains of one of the 5 valleys around Sorrento .

It was closed due to the construction of Piazza Tasso which completely isolated the access to the site. The almost total closure of this area made the climate so humid that it facilitated the growth of very particular plants.

Old Bussana

In the narrow streets and alleys you can admire shops and ateliers that arise in the beautiful stone buildings.

Sammezzano Castle

Sammezzano Castle

A wonderful Moorish castle is hidden in Reggello, in the province of Florence. The Castle was built in 1605 by the Ximenes d’Aragona family.

Surrounded by a spectacular garden, the Castle is semi-abandoned. Unfortunately, visiting it is almost impossible, the last possible visit was by FAI in 2021.
